My last run was brutal... I was supposed to go 9 miles as part of my half marathon training, the first time I'd attempted to cover that distance. (My last long run was 8). It was 85 degrees out, sunny, and 90% humidity. I got caught in a torrential rainstorm in mile two, and the rain felt so good that I actually was more devastated when it STOPPED raining because the heat and humidity were so oppressive. I turned around and went home and now I have to reschedule my long run.... except the next two days are supposed to be even hotter.
I hate long runs on the treadmill... I hate waking up at five a.m. to go running.... I hate listening to myself whine to this forum right now. I'm supposed to be a super positive runner, darnit.
Solution: I think I need a breather. I'll postpone my long run and just do 3 miles tomorrow. Should be a little cooler this weekend.... I'll leave the kids with my husband Saturday morning, drive 9 miles from my house, lock my keys and cell phone in the car so I can't quit, and run home. He can drive me to pick my car up later. If I lose energy and walk, fine... but I'll still be that far from home, so I'm guessing I'll start running again so it doesn't take all day!
I'll let you know how this strategy goes.
