I ran the hardest one in the area "The Myles Standish Marathon" Which takes place in the Myles Standish state forest. It was all hills. I was DFL, I hurt my IT band at mile 18, but kept at it and finished, running and hobbling and mostly walking the last 8 miles. It was brutal. I am doing and easy one for my next race. A friend that did Boston said this took him 20 minutes longer due to difficulty. This from a guy who finished boston in 3:15. I guess I am a bit of an idiot for taking on the hardest one first. HAH! =) I am starting a collection of DFL finishes at this point DFL means Dead...f*@#4@#$ Last. btw =) Better than DNF (Did not finish) which is better than DNS (Did not start.) Thankfully 5k, 10k and Half marathons I tend to come in as a midpacker (towards the end of the mid, really)
When my son was born and hugged me I decided he wasn't going to watch me die of diabetes like I had to watch my mom. I credit that little guy for keeping me going, I don't want him to see me weak. I am willing to really take it on the chin (or knee) to keep that from happening.
That's awesome! And you're absolutely right DFL>DNF>DNS ![]()
